Happy Halloween from Wicked Wanton Wednesday. I don't have a scary, witchy tale to tell, but I do have a spanko story to share from new author Sara Fields.
I love having new guests on my blog and today,
Sara steps into the spotlight. And, the little innocent was easily lured
her into my author’s corner -- mwah ha ha!!!
Lucky us, she also brought an excerpt from her debut novel, Claimed by the
General. Already, from the title alone, all sorts of naughty
images pop into my head.
Okay, I admit this had nothing to do with the story, but that's what popped in my head and its Halloween, so sue me! LOL
On with business at hand (no pun intended), a look behind the cover of
Claimed by the General

Excerpt:
“What
is your name?” he said quietly.
“Ayala,”
she replied, quickly adding a “sir” afterwards, hoping to please him.
“Ayala,”
he said, almost as if he could taste it. “That is a very pretty name,” he
added, allowing it to roll off his tongue. “My name is Lord Eiotan. I own the
fields that you work in. You belong to me.”
Her
mind raced, but she kept her eyes on the floor. This was the man who owned her
mark, the man who held her freedom in his hands. The Aztecs, in a territory not
too far away, had captured her people. She was young and strong and could work,
and therefore had been taken to the capital and sold. Ayala had never seen the
man who owned her before.
She
felt him come toward her, but she didn’t dare move. Her body began to quake
with fear. His hand cupped her chin and pushed it up. She slowly met his
powerful gaze, feeling very small in his presence. He smiled at her, his
features warming with kindness. She felt oddly safe for a moment, before she
quickly remembered who he was.
“I
like you. You seem like a woman who can think for herself. I don’t think you
belong in the fields any longer. I think I will take you as my personal servant
instead. Would you like that?”
Ayala
opened her mouth to respond, but no words came forth. His hands dropped to her
shoulders, almost cradling her with reassurance.
“It
would be easier work for you, but you would have to follow my rules, or face
the consequences of disobeying me.”
Ayala
swallowed past the lump in her throat. “By that, sir, you mean my death,” she
stammered. Execution of servants was commonplace within the Aztec community.
She let her eyes fall again.
He
was strangely silent, gazing down at her. He used his fingers to pick up her
chin, silently encouraging her to meet his eyes.
“No,
not at all.” He paused. “The way I punish my servants is through a spanking. I
would pull out a chair from that table and sit down, and then I would bare your
bottom, and spank you until I feel you are truly sorry for what you have done.”
Ayala
opened her eyes wide. She was a grown woman! Her own mother had not spanked her
since she was a little girl. All she remembered was that it hurt, and it hurt
an awful lot.
“You
would spank me?” she whispered. “But I am grown; I do not need to be punished
like a child.” She stuck out her chin a bit, feeling slightly defiant.
“Should
you agree to work for me personally, misbehaving and disobeying my orders is
something a child would do, therefore qualifying you for a punishment as such.”
Ayala
narrowed her eyes a bit before responding, chewing his response over in her
mind. “You would not kill or torture me for such an offense? I have heard
stories, and seen the trials. Slaves have little rights here.”
“I
will not kill or torture you, I promise.” He walked over to the table and
pulled out a chair, placing it away from the table with a wide berth. Nervous
butterflies flew through Ayala’s stomach. What was he doing?
“If
what you say is true, I agree to serve you, sir,” she managed to stammer out as
he sat down in the chair, a distance too far from the table for her comfort.
“Then
come over here, young lady, I am going to show you what shall happen should you
disobey me.”
“I’m
sorry?”
“I
am going to spank you, right now.”

Maddie: As a first time guest on Wicked Wanton
Wednesday, let’s get to know Sara Fields a little bit. Tell me five things about yourself that you
would want a new acquaintance to know.
Sara:
1. I’ve been
in the spanking scene for about six years now and know lots of spankos around
the country!
2. I love
leather implements, and all types of spankings!
3. I love
anything science. Yeah, I’m a nerd. J
4. I’ve
experienced many of the things I write about.
5. I’m an
avid animal lover, and own three dogs of all different sizes, from big to small.
Maddie: Okay, I’m impressed that you tell #1 and #2 to
a new acquaintance. Atta girl! J
Claimed
by the General is your debut novel, how long have you been writing and what
made you decide to take the the plunge and get published?
Sara: I’ve been writing since high school, but the
wonderful people who run Stormy Night Publications are actually close friends,
and if I ever wanted to publish a steamy spanking romance, they’d be the
perfect ones to do it.
Maddie: The setting for your new book is unique and
exotic. What inspired the story?
Sara: I actually studied anthropology in college,
and I’ve always loved ancient times. I can’t promise that I won’t visit other
ancient civilizations in my future novels! It’s a lot of fun taking a forgotten
time, and exploring how they might have lived and loved.
Maddie: Again, I’m impressed, anthropology and self
proclaimed science nerd does not scream spanko and steamy spanking romance
author. But then I remember that old
movie, Revenge of the Nerds...

Lewis: Yeah.

Jocks ever think about is sports, all we ever think about is sex.
LOL. But I digress. On with the interview. What was the biggest surprise in the first
time author process? Maybe I should say
surprises—plural—because there is definitely a learning curve with the
writing-publishing process.
Sara: When I first got my cover design sent to me!
It was beautiful! Another thing that surprised me was how easy the entire
publishing process actually was, from acceptance, to edits, to seeing my work
up selling on Amazon, and Stormy Night’s webpage. I loved the whole process.
Maddie: Was there something you would have done
differently? What advice would you give
to a new author?
Sara: I think the one thing that I would have done
differently would be put together my author webpages before my novel was
released. I think I should have given myself at least a week or two in
preparation. My advice for a new author would be to know how to use Facebook,
and Twitter, and make good friends with Photoshop to make some HOT promo images
to advertise your book.
Maddie: I agree 100%
New authors, myself including way back when, don’t realize the power of
social media. Do you have an interesting
writing quirk or process?
Sara: I like to write for very long stretches of
time with some relaxing vocal trance music, and disappear in my story. It’s
difficult for me to write in short spurts. Also, I don’t generally plan where
my story might go – I just write.
Maddie: That means that you’re a pantser. You write by the seat of your pants. Nothing wrong with that. What do you like to read? If I peeked in your kindle right now, what
would I find in the front of your carousel?
Sara: I love to read fantasy/sci-fi novels,
especially with magic, epic romances, and a gripping war between good and evil.
If you grabbed my kindle from me right now – You would find Kallista Dane’s His
to Claim at the top of my carousel. Now that’s a hot one!
Maddie: What’s next on your writing calendar?
Sara: The next thing I am working on is a hot
sci-fi romance. An earth woman is captured and gifted to a King on a faraway
planet, and he isn’t afraid to bare her bottom in order to teach her his ways. It’s
going to be a steamy one!
Maddie: Thanks for taking your turn in the corner,
