The set up...

Five illegitimate sons of a profligate gambler; these half-brothers learn of their father's death, some learning for the first time that their brothers exist.  These rugged, handsome men, despite their unfortunate beginnings, grow to become strong, upstanding men (for the most part) in their own right, no thanks to their father. Still, from across the country they embark on a journey. Along with their sassy and sometimes mischievous brides, they travel to Denver for the reading of the will. For most, the will is the least of their concerns.  Instead, they have a burning curiosity to meet the other sons of Johnny Hastings.

Available for individual sale or as a boxed set which include five brand new stories by some of your favorite authors: Patty Devlin, Patricia Green, Renee Rose, Maddie Taylor (yours truly), and Mary Wehr.

Annie’s sweet on her neighbor, Matthew Caine, but the stern rancher treats her like a bratty child instead of a woman. Each encounter always ends with a trip over his knee.

Matthew’s fed up with Annie’s childish behavior. Her latest prank ruined a brand new pair of boots! While he sets her britches on fire, he refers to her as a nuisance and warns her to leave him alone. For once in her life, Annie obeys.

‘Bratty’ Annie has grown into a beautiful woman and Matthew realizes that he’s fallen in love with her, but she’s unsure of his feelings. When he learns about her stepmother’s evil plan to marry her off to a man Annie despises in order to settle a debt, he steps in and takes her to wife.

Annie’s happy to be married to the man of her dreams and learns that no matter what her age, her disobedience and sass will be dealt with an old-fashioned spanking.

Excerpt:

Matt strode over to where Annie was putting on a show, most likely for his benefit, and crossed his arms over his chest. He cleared his throat.

Annie scowled. "What do you want? I'm busy."

"Not any more, you ain't." His hand shot out and he latched hold of her wrist. "Sorry Johnny, but this here lady belongs to me." Annie sputtered in outrage, but Matt ignored her as he crossed the floor with her in tow. She tugged and squirmed, but he held fast.

"Let me go this instant, Matthew Caine. I'm not going anywhere with you." Matt kept walking and she kept yanking. "Did you hear me? I said let go. Johnny, will you please help me?" She called over her shoulder. Johnny just stood there with his jaw hanging open.

Matt whirled around so fast she slammed into his chest and nearly lost her balance. He gripped her upper arms and picked her up off the floor until they were eyeball to eyeball. "Don't go getting an innocent man involved in your childish games, Annie Dobbs. Now, you're coming with me real peaceful like," he set her on her feet, "or else."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah," he shot back and snatched hold of her wrist once again. "One more word and I'll turn you over my knee right here and tan you proper."

Annie pursed her lips and gave his arm another yank. "You wouldn't dare."

Q& A: If you time traveled back to 1872 which modern convenience or invention would you missed most? TP, A/C, birth control, automobile, cell phone (or any phone for that matter- it wasn't invented yet). Rank and tell us why...

1. AC. Women had to wear way too many garments back then.  2. Birth control.  A big family is nice, but if cash was hard to come by it would hurt too much if my children couldn’t be properly taken care of  3.TP. With my luck, I’d use poison ivy leaves  4. Automobile. It’d be much faster than a horse in case of an emergency. 5. Phone. I could call my cowboy home J
